Plain-English glossary

From the organiser's Help guide. This is the page an organiser reads inside their own admin, exactly as they see it. On the demo you can read it but not open the admin behind it.

CapacityThe most people who can book. For pick-your-dates courses, each date has its own; on a retreat, each room type can have its own too.
Places per bookingHow many places one person may book at once, set on each event next to Capacity. 1 means everyone books for themselves; 2 or more lets someone book for friends, with the price and deposit multiplied.
Health checklistA booking question of the “Health checklist” type. Special-category data, kept inside the admin — and because each person must answer it for themselves, an event that asks one sells one place per booking.
Sliding scaleSeveral prices for the same place — your Thriving / Striving / Surviving tiers. People choose honestly; nobody is asked to prove anything.
Pay what you canThey type their own amount, with your price as the minimum.
Discount codeA word like SPRING20 that you give people; typed on the booking form, it takes money off. Made once, ticked on each event it works for.
PassSomething bought once (or renewed monthly) that lets someone book your classes without paying each time. A membership is unlimited; a class pack is a set number of classes.
Early-birdA cheaper price with a deadline. It replaces your full prices until the deadline passes.
Drop-inBooking a single date of a course rather than the whole thing.
Solidarity paymentAn optional extra a guest adds to their card payment. It goes into your solidarity fund, which pays for reduced or free places. Shown to guests on the top price, and to anyone using a discount code that offers it.
DepositThe first payment on an instalment plan, by card when they book — a percentage or a fixed £ amount, per place.
StripeThe company that securely takes card payments. Money goes to your account; card details never touch this site.
PaymentsThe record of each card payment Stripe has confirmed (and any refunds). Bookings update themselves from these — it's just a record.
Pending / holdA place reserved while someone is paying. If they don't finish, it's released automatically.
CreditMoney a guest can spend on a later booking instead of getting a refund. It lasts until its use-by date (12 months unless you change it) and they use it by ticking Use my credit on the booking form. See everyone's under Money → Credit.
WaitlistPeople waiting for a full event (or one full date or room). When a place frees up, the next person is emailed and the place is kept for them.
Kept placeA place held for one person off the waitlist, or someone you've approved, so nobody else can take it. If they don't book in time, it goes to the next person.
Rest in cash on the dayA deposit paid by card when they book, and the rest paid in cash when they arrive. No reminder emails go out for the cash part.
Special-category dataHealth information. The law says it must be handled carefully, so it stays inside this panel and never reaches the spreadsheet export.
Connected accountYour own Stripe account, linked to the platform so bookings pay into it directly.
Platform feeThe small percentage of each card payment that pays for this site, taken by Stripe automatically.
Feature switchA tick-box in Site settings that shows or hides a whole feature. Off means invisible, not deleted.
Two-step loginPassword plus a code from an app on your phone. Keeps the panel safe if a password ever leaks.
